This course is aimed at ballet educators who want to enhance their practice by gaining practically applicable knowledge in dance psychology. We welcome teachers, professional dancers about to become teachers, and other ballet educators such as choreographers, ballet mistresses/masters, managers, and artistic directors. Theoretical knowledge will be interwoven with practically oriented tasks and class discussions. Because the course is mostly delivered online, it will be accessible even to those living far from Stockholm; however, a 2.5-day campus-based teaching session will ensure that knowledge is better anchored in practice. This time on campus will also facilitate knowledge exchange between participants. This course is the first in a planned series of eight courses for ballet educators, developed in collaboration between the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences and Stockholm University of the Arts. The planned courses at the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences are:1) Psychology for ballet educators (this course)2) Anatomy and physiology for ballet educators 3) Nutrition for ballet educators4) Ways of knowing in dance science - Tools and perspectivesThe planned courses at Stockholm University of the Arts are:1) Science of dance education 12) Applying dance science principles in practice 13) Science of dance education 24) Applying dance science principles in practice 2For more information about this course, or the series of courses, please contact Sanna Nordin-Bates: sanna.nordin-bates@gih.se
